After a search for local sporting talent of the future, betterpr is proud to sponsor 16-year old golfer Matthew Young from Redditch.

Matthew began playing golf at the age of 13 and in just two years has achieved an impressive handicap of 8.8, regularly scoring in the very low 70’s.

So far, Matthew has won virtually all of the major adult and junior events at Abbey Park Golf Club including The Junior Club Championship, The Claret Jug event two years in succession and the prestigious Champion of Champions event. Away from home, his tournament wins include the Avon League Grand Final victory in 2005.

Matthew entered his first junior County Championship Tournament in 2006 and was placed 4th.

Matthew’s dream is to become a professional golfer and to compete on the PGA tour. His aim in the short-term is to bring his handicap down to scratch and secure a golf scholarship in the USA. betterpr will help fund Matthew’s club memberships and tournament costs during 2007/08 allowing him to achieve his ambitions.
